I am back in Boston welcomed by sunshine and 81 degree weather. I had an amazing 2 week tour down to Texas and my first SXSW experience was extraordinary!

For those of you who couldn’t make it down, here’s a little recap of what I was up to on the way to and in Austin, TX.

I played violin for Moniker on their epic song Cannibals during this tour.  We played 4 shows on our way down, kicking off the tour in Boston at Brighton Music Hall March 8th for the Allston Village fasion show.  We also hit Kenny’s Castaway’s in New York, the Velvet Lounge in Washington DC, and The Honest Pint in Chattanooga, TN.

After Chattanooga, we booked it to Texas, ready to share the excitement of music with thousands of locals and travelers from all over the World at South by Southwest. It was surreal. My first time being in Austin for the festival , I didn’t really know what to expect, but I had an amazing time performing, listening, meeting new and old friends, relaxing, and eating my fair share of Mexican food. I certainly got my fix of going to shows as well. From metal, hip hop and rock n roll to world music, street performances, acoustic acts, etc, i got to experience a lot of musics that I find a lot of inspiration in.

My favorite show of tour and definitely of SXSW was a street show that Moniker and I played on the corner of 6th and Trinity.  It was a guerilla type of operation where we rented a generator and basically started playing until the police kicked us out for not having a permit.  It was a blast, we got a little bit of press and a ton of new fans!

I was also really excited to be involved in the Wadzilla Mansion showcase that we held at the Treehouse Pub called Boston in Austin.  I was proud to be a part of such an incredible event. The showcase not only displayed some of the best bands from Boston but also of Austin and New York City. Some of my favorites were Megafauna, Spanish Prisoners, Herra Terra, The Shills, King Orchid, Dirty Dishes, and Grass is Green, to name a few.

We wrapped it up on Sunday with an acoustic showcase at the Treehouse where I performed my original songs on violin and guitar.
